Ride hard. Breathe easy.

We set out to create performance garments from 100% natural fibres to not only challenge, but out-perform synthetic based jerseys in almost every way.

We talk about the reasons newe merino is so special to us, because nothing else feels, looks or wears like newe 100% merino wool. It’s not only soft against the skin but also gentle on the planet.

Temperature control

Merino sheep in New Zealand thrive in their woollen fleece in temperatures ranging higher than 30°C degs in summer months through to lower than -10°C degs in winter. When it’s cold outside, the natural crimps & bends within the merino fibres, trap air to insulate you. When it’s warm outside, merino transports heat as sweat, quickly away from the skin, helping to keep you cool & dry.

newe merino's ability to absorb & release moisture makes our garments comfortable, warm & extremely breathable in both warm & cold conditions.

Aerodynamically Efficient

We know that air flowing around a cyclist’s body, arm and shoulders is turbulent which increases drag. The trick is to deliberately roughen fabric in such a way as to create a specific kind of turbulence that helps the air flow smoothly around the limbs and reduce drag. Much like a Golf ball has dimples to help it fly further, the natural texture within our merino fabric provides the same effect.

newe designs are developed organically, allowing the bodylines & profiles of the rider to dictate the flow & composure of the merino fibres. Ultimately our 'Origin' race jersey has out-performed one of the cycling world's most coveted 'aero' race jerseys during independent wind-tunnel testing.

Odour Resistant

newe merino contains natural crimps within each fibre -trapping antibacterial matter, in-turn reducing human body odour. Unlike synthetic textiles, merino fully releases this bacteria during the washing process. It is not uncommon for users to wear our jersey's for multiple days in a row & still smell like roses.

Wearing synthetic cycle clothing, interrupts the sweat-vapour escape routes & creates a 'detour' that will increase your chances of getting cold and clammy.

Environmentally Friendly

newe merino wool disappears completely after approximately 1 year in the ground. So when you’ve worn your newe jersey for years on end & it’s finally time to update, the planet will take back this fibrous protein composed of amino acids—releasing carbon and nutrients back into the soil.

When you wash a synthetic cycle garment, up to 650,000 plastic microfibers are released into the oceans in just one wash.

newe 100% New Zealand superfine merino wool is made up of proteins composed of amino acids & natural compounds & it is a 100% natural regenerating natural fibre. Meaning that one sheep can grow up to 6 kg of wool per year.

UPF Protection

newe merino fibres help block out harmful rays from the sun (UPF 20+).  It’s great to know your newe merino jersey is protecting you.
